The Daegu Chamber of Commerce held a breakfast meeting Thursday at its fourth-floor conference room to present mayor-elect Choo Kyung-ho with key regional economic issues and the concerns of local businesses.

The gathering brought together the chamber's executive leadership, committee chairs and Choo amid discussions spanning multiple industries, including robotics, AI, transportation infrastructure and construction, with participants raising a range of pressing issues and operational difficulties.

Attendees also called for efforts to improve the investment environment for businesses and strengthen public-private communication to revitalize the local economy.

On this, Choo said he was taking seriously the voices of business leaders working on the ground to sustain local industry and the economy despite difficult conditions. "I will work to improve industrial policy and the investment environment in ways that businesses can actually feel, in order to strengthen Daegu's future competitiveness," he said.

Chamber President Park Yun-gyeong said she hoped the meeting would serve as a meaningful occasion to collectively address the difficulties facing the regional economy and explore practical solutions. "The Daegu Chamber of Commerce will continue to play a communicative role in ensuring that the voices of local businesses are reflected in policy," she added.
