Sales begin July 1 at 10 a.m. via the Seoul Pay Plus app — buyers get a 15% upfront discount, plus a 5% cashback on purchases, for total savings of up to 20%
Yeongdeungpo-gu, led by district mayor Choi Ho-kwon, will launch 2.5 billion won ($1.63 million) worth of "Yeongdeungpo Ttangyeoyo Vouchers" on July 1 at 10 a.m., aiming to ease household costs for residents amid high inflation and inject new energy into struggling neighborhood businesses.
The Yeongdeungpo Ttangyeoyo Voucher is a mobile gift certificate redeemable on Shinhan Bank's public online food delivery app "Ttangyeoyo." Residents can order food at discounted prices, while participating small-business owners benefit from brokerage fees far lower than those charged by private delivery platforms — a combination that has driven strong uptake.
This issuance offers a standout discount of up to 20%. A 15% upfront discount applies automatically at the time of purchase, and an additional 5% cashback is paid out when the voucher is used at a Yeongdeungpo-gu merchant on the Ttangyeoyo app.
Vouchers are available through the Seoul Pay Plus app, with a monthly purchase limit of 200,000 won per person and a maximum holding balance of 1 million won. They are valid for one year from the date of purchase and can be used via either the "Seoul Delivery+" section of the Seoul Pay Plus app or the Ttangyeoyo app directly.
Yeongdeungpo-gu has been leading public delivery app adoption, boasting the second-largest issuance volume among Seoul's autonomous districts and rapid growth. The 5.35 billion won in vouchers issued last year sold out entirely amid strong resident demand, and the number of participating merchants in the district grew significantly to 2,853.
Active user numbers and order volumes have also surged. The user base more than doubled, from about 65,000 in January last year to roughly 150,000 as of late May this year, while cumulative orders jumped to approximately 527,000 over the same period. The average monthly payment in the second half of last year reached 1.17 billion won — more than five times the 210 million won recorded in the first half.
"I hope the powerful discount benefits of a 15% upfront discount and 5% cashback will serve as a reliable support for both residents and small-business owners in the second half of this year as well," district mayor Choi said.
