A man in his 30s who posed as a cleaning worker on a secondhand trading platform to gain entry to a woman's home, threatened her with a weapon and then fled has been arrested, police said Wednesday.

The Namyangju Nambu Police Station in Gyeonggi Province said it apprehended the suspect, identified only as A, and is investigating the case.

A is suspected of threatening a woman, identified as B, with a weapon inside an apartment in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, at around noon Wednesday. He is believed to have contacted B through a secondhand trading platform, offering to do cleaning work, before entering her home.

When B resisted, A fled the scene. Police arrested him in Seoul about six hours later. B was not seriously injured and no valuables were reported stolen.

Police are investigating whether A intended to commit a serious crime such as robbery or a sex crime.

"We plan to confirm the specific details of the incident after transferring the suspect to the police station," a police official said. "The charges have not yet been determined as the investigation has not yet begun."
