An exhibition inviting visitors to reflect on the meaning of summer blue is drawing attention at an art gallery in Gangnam, Seoul.

Superior Gallery on Teheran-ro in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, is hosting a group show on the theme of "blue" through July 14, featuring works by three artists who each bring their own approach and worldview to the subject.

Titled "Cheong · Cheong · Cheong" — a play on three Korean homonyms meaning blue as a color, a state of clarity and stillness, and the act of listening with one's senses — the exhibition treats blue not as a simple chromatic concept but as a condition in which emotion, memory, light and time reside.

Artist Woo Yi-jin connects with the "cheong" of attentive listening. Treating painting as a kind of antenna, Woo slowly accumulates on the canvas the sensory signals absorbed from light, memory and urban landscape. The reflective, particulate surfaces created by the interplay of aluminum, powdered pigment and mineral pigment invite viewers to quietly tune in to their own senses and memories.

Lim Da-in embodies the "cheong" of clarity and stillness. Lim captures moments of sudden strangeness and quiet within familiar spaces, building interior landscapes through boundary images — light and shadow, windows and gaps. The slowly spreading color fields and blurred forms on the canvas suggest a sensation that gently settles and clears, naturally slowing the viewer's breath and gaze.

Han Hye-su engages with the sensory dimension of "cheong." Han focuses on the ambivalence inherent in blue, painting landscapes where beauty and sorrow, serenity and unease coexist. The deep, vivid blue filling her canvases moves beyond a simple color of nature to serve as a medium reflecting the contradictory emotions and relationships that make up life.
