Hoengseong-gun in Gangwon Province is drawing attention for its wide-ranging efforts to revitalize the local economy and tourism sector, including job creation and the expansion of youth docent education programs.
The Hoengseong Cultural Tourism Foundation, led by CEO Lee Jae-sung, announced Wednesday that it has signed an MOU with KTO Partners Co. to promote tourism and develop local talent.
The agreement aims to build a resource-sharing and cooperative framework among tourism-related organizations in the Gangwon region and to raise the quality of tourism services through the exchange of facility management expertise and personnel.
The two organizations also expressed their commitment to developing a hands-on youth education model in the tourism sector and establishing a Gangwon-wide tourism cooperation model covering safety management and visitor guidance at tourism facilities.
Under the MOU, the two organizations plan to explore and gradually implement measures to strengthen safety management and improve visitor services at festivals and tourism facilities operated by the foundation.
The two organizations also plan to collaborate on a children's docent training program to cultivate local tourism guide talent, laying the groundwork for children and youth to learn about and interpret the region's cultural and tourism resources.
Building on the agreement, the two organizations expect to establish a cooperative framework linking their tourism facility management experience with local cultural tourism assets. They also aim to improve the quality of regional tourism services by expanding practical exchanges in visitor guidance, facility operations and safety management.
They also plan to join forces on tourism interpretation programs for children and youth, with the goal of nurturing local tourism talent and fostering a sustainable tourism ecosystem in the region.
"We expect this agreement to serve as an opportunity to enhance the competitiveness of local tourism by sharing and combining the expertise and experience each organization brings," Lee said. "We will continue to pursue a range of cooperative projects aimed at revitalizing regional tourism and developing the next generation of tourism professionals."
