Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry to host FAMS 2026 on June 30; Xiaomi designer, AI autonomous manufacturing scholar among top speakers; full future mobility ecosystem on display
Eight of China's foremost authorities in manufacturing, design, battery supply chains, quality standards, retail and media — all driving the country's future AI mobility industry — are set to visit South Korea.
The FAMS 2026 Organizing Committee announced Monday that the "FAMS 2026 Main Forum," a business forum scheduled for June 30 at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry's international conference hall in Seoul, will bring together Xiaomi Auto's chief designer, a leading scholar in AI autonomous manufacturing, a global battery localization leader, a state media project director, the vice chairman of a national-level quality inspection body, a first-generation media group chairwoman and a new-energy vehicle retail chief, among others.
The organizing committee expects the forum to serve as a historic platform for what it calls "comprehensive convergence and cooperation in the Korea-China future mobility ecosystem," going well beyond a simple exchange of technology.
Li Tianyuan, general manager of industrial design and chief designer at Xiaomi Auto, and Zeng Xiangrui, a professor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, will open the forum's technology innovation segment. Li is drawing the most attention among the speakers. The first Chinese designer to lead exterior design for BMW's i and M brands, he is also a founding member of Xiaomi Auto and oversaw the design of the company's first electric sedan, the SU7, and its next-generation SUV, the YU7.
His session blends the user-experience sensibility of an IT company with the design language of traditional automakers, and will outline a future in which the automobile evolves into an AI-driven "lifestyle platform."
In the AI autonomous manufacturing and future factory segment, Zeng of Huazhong University of Science and Technology will take the stage. A former data scientist at Ford's headquarters, Zeng is a globally recognized expert in intelligent manufacturing with hands-on experience in fully unmanned production, dark factory operations and physical AI implementation. He will share insights into present-day manufacturing competitiveness — where robots correct assembly errors in real time and autonomous mobile robots independently coordinate logistics.
Luo Ran, chief executive of Zhongxing Korea — the South Korea localization subsidiary of CATL, the world's largest battery maker — will also attend. As a key bridge and operational lead for Korea-China mobility battery supply chain cooperation, Luo is expected to present concrete plans for building a battery technology ecosystem tailored to the Korean market and to outline next-generation global battery business models.
Zhang Wenli, vice chairman of the automotive division of the China Association of Quality Inspection (CAQI) — a national-level body under the State Administration for Market Regulation — will also participate. Zhang oversees the development of battery lifecycle safety standards and intelligent component quality certification frameworks, topics that have become a global focus. He will share perspectives on consumer trust and the direction of institutional industry cooperation.
Gong Chunji, director of Xinhua News Agency's China Automotive CAIM project at the country's largest state-run news outlet, will also attend. His session will explore the development of an advanced global cooperation network between Korean and Chinese mobility institutions. Gong leads the digital transformation of China's automotive industry and the construction of global supply chains by integrating media, big data and AI.
Xu Wangni, a professor at the School of Industrial Design at China Academy of Art and a leading figure in interaction design bridging academia and industry, will also visit South Korea. Having led numerous industry-academia collaborations with top-tier companies including Geely, Smart and Stellantis' China design center, Xu will present the essence of "smart spatial experience" — a fusion of technology and sensibility that includes patents for gesture-recognition-based vehicle human-machine interface systems.
Rounding out the lineup are Mei Qing, chairwoman of Shanghai Meiqing Media Group and a pioneering first-generation entrepreneur in China's automotive media industry, and Li Jinyong, chairman of the new-energy vehicle division of the China Federation of Industry and Commerce Automobile Chamber of Commerce, who oversees electric vehicle retail on the ground.
Mei, editor-in-chief of "Automobile & Parts" — a 45-year-old publication regarded as the field's top authority — is also known as the host of "Meiqing Kanshijie," a global diplomacy platform through which she has interviewed more than 100 foreign ambassadors to China. Her session will address the future of "industry communication" connecting technology companies, governments and consumers.
Li will reveal the secrets behind the retail ecosystem that enabled major brands such as Xiaomi and BYD to establish themselves in China, along with the mechanics of electric vehicle adoption in third- and fourth-tier cities. Those insights draw from his work standardizing big-data-driven online-to-offline retail models and after-sales service networks.
"China's mobility industry is evolving at a remarkable pace, moving beyond simple output expansion into invisible infrastructure — battery globalization and localization, advanced AI manufacturing, emotionally resonant UX design and battery lifecycle standardization," an organizing committee official said. "This will be the one landmark occasion where Korean companies can meet directly with the key decision-makers of China's future vehicle ecosystem and find real breakthroughs in global business and cooperation during a period of great transformation."
FAMS 2026, jointly organized by the Korea Herald and the Korea Future Eco-Friendly Mobility Service Association (KFMSA), will be held this year under the theme "Beyond the evolution of technology — toward sustainable inspiration for humanity."
