GH President Kim Yong-jin has drawn attention for converting the distances run by employees in marathon races into donations to improve housing for descendants of independence patriots.
According to GH on Monday, 99 members of the company's in-house running club "GH Running Crew" participated in two marathon events in April and June, covering a combined distance of 1,363 kilometers. The distance was converted at 10,000 won ($7) per kilometer, raising 13.63 million won. An additional 8.15 million won was contributed to support Habitat for Humanity Korea's "2026 815 Run" campaign, bringing the total donation to 21.78 million won.
A donation ceremony was held Monday morning at GH's headquarters in Gwanggyo, Suwon, with GH President Kim Yong-jin, Habitat for Humanity Korea Chairwoman Ma Hui-ja, singer Shin — the 815 Run campaign ambassador — and members of the GH Running Crew in attendance. The donated funds will go toward Habitat for Humanity Korea's project to improve housing conditions for descendants of independence patriots.
GH established the GH Running Crew in March.
Members trained steadily under professional coaches before 30 employees competed in the Gyeonggi Province Marathon in April and 69 took part in the Seongnam Marathon in June. Together they completed a total of 1,363 kilometers across 5-kilometer, 10-kilometer, half-marathon and full-marathon courses, with each kilometer run converted into a donation.
Singer Shin, widely known as a "donation angel" and marathon advocate for his longstanding charitable work, attended the ceremony as campaign ambassador. He delivered a talk titled "A Marathon Story of a Donation Angel," sharing a message about running and giving.
The "815 Run" is a charity marathon organized by Habitat for Humanity Korea that honors the spirit of Liberation Day and expresses gratitude toward independence patriots, carrying the message "It will be alright, Korea!" Since its launch in 2020, the campaign has provided a total of 21 homes to families of independence patriots' descendants.
