Funds to support medical care and residential improvements for veterans

LIG Defense & Aerospace (LIG D&A) announced Monday that it donated 100 million won (about $65,600) to support national veterans as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations.

The donation ceremony took place Saturday at the Turtle Marathon event held at the picnic grounds of Olympic Park in Seoul, with LIG D&A CEO Shin Ik-hyun and Ministry of Patriots and Veterans welfare director Yuk Hyun-su among those in attendance.

The funds will go toward medical support and residential improvements for veterans and their families.

"The freedom and peace we enjoy today were made possible by the noble sacrifice and dedication of our national veterans," Shin said at the event. "We will continue working to raise public awareness of their contributions and help establish a culture that honors them."

The Turtle Marathon is an annual event in which LIG D&A employees and their families participate to reflect on the sacrifices of veterans. The company also runs a range of patriotic commemorative programs throughout the year — including a Memorial Hiking event where participants walk with family and friends to honor fallen soldiers, summer essential goods support for veterans, a West Sea Defense Day memorial, and a Parents' Day event for the families of soldiers killed in action.
