Free deposits of up to 500,000 won ($328) per month
Three-year flexible savings product
KB Kookmin Bank announced Monday it is launching the "KB Youth Future Savings" account to help young customers build stable assets and prepare for the future.
The product is a policy-backed savings account targeting people between 19 and 34 years old who meet income requirements. Customers can make flexible monthly deposits of up to 500,000 won over a three-year term. In addition to interest on deposits, the account offers government contribution payments and an income tax exemption on interest earnings to help young people accumulate a lump sum. Only one account per person is allowed across all financial institutions.
The base interest rate is 5.0 percent per year, with preferential rates of up to 3.0 percentage points available depending on transaction conditions, bringing the maximum annual rate to 8.0 percent.
The preferential rate consists of five components: salary transfer (1.0 percentage point), withdrawal activity (0.8 percentage point), transaction appreciation (0.5 percentage point), income plus (0.5 percentage point), and completion of youth financial counseling (0.2 percentage point). Further product details are available through KB Star Banking.
Applications will be accepted through KB Star Banking, KB Financial Group's super app, from Monday through July 3. Customers confirmed as eligible by the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency may open an account from July 27 to Aug. 7. During that period, existing holders of the Youth Leap Account may switch to the Youth Future Savings account. Those who make a special early termination of their Youth Leap Account will still receive the originally agreed base and preferential interest rates, preserving their existing benefits.
To mark the launch, KB Kookmin Bank is running a "KB Youth Future Savings Launch Lucky Draw" event from Monday through Aug. 7. Customers who complete enrollment and register an automatic transfer of 100,000 won or more to a KB Kookmin Bank deposit account will be entered to win prizes worth a combined 140 million won, including 10 million won in cash, a home appliance package, a home office package, a Signiel Seoul hotel stay and a four-leaf clover gold bar.
Additionally, customers who did not hold a KB Kookmin Bank time deposit or savings account as of May 2026, enroll in the "KB Youth Future Savings" account and register an automatic transfer of 100,000 won or more to a KB Kookmin Bank deposit account will be eligible for a draw in which 3,000 winners each receive a 30,000-won savings incentive cashback.
"We hope the Youth Future Savings account will serve as a policy catalyst that helps young people build stable assets," a KB Kookmin Bank official said. "We will continue to develop a range of support measures that reduce the financial burden on young customers while maximizing the effect of asset growth."
