Wonju city announced Monday that its "Vietnam Market Pioneer Mission," dispatched to Ho Chi Minh City from June 15 to 19, conducted 96 export consultations worth $5.7 million.
Of those, nine resulted in export MOUs valued at $870,000 and on-site contracts worth $100,000 — a notable short-term result as the city continues to expand its reach into overseas markets.
Twelve small and medium-sized enterprises in the food, cosmetics and lifestyle products sectors took part in the mission. To support smooth export consultations, the city arranged one-on-one meetings with local buyers, provided interpreters and set up dedicated consultation spaces.
The participating companies drew strong interest and positive reviews from local buyers by showcasing their products during the consultation period. The city expects the results to lead to concrete export contracts going forward.
The companies also visited the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and other relevant organizations to lay the groundwork for export cooperation. They conducted market research at major retail stores to analyze local consumer trends and assess market potential.
Building on the mission's consultation outcomes, Wonju city plans to pursue follow-up projects, including securing shelf space in local retail networks and providing marketing support for its products.
"Vietnam is a key Southeast Asian market with strong growth prospects and consumer potential," a Wonju city official said. "We will continue to actively support local companies in strengthening their export competitiveness through overseas marketing and market-entry assistance tailored to their needs."
