Jongno-gu's "Love Sharing 1 Company, 1 Neighborhood" project is providing a steady safety net for vulnerable residents, the district said.

The public-private initiative pairs companies one-on-one with neighborhood community centers. Each partner tailors its contributions — cash donations, daily necessities, groceries or talent-based giving — to the specific welfare needs of that neighborhood.

Community centers identify struggling residents up close, and their corporate partners respond with the resources and capabilities at their disposal.

Hyundai E&C, Maeil Dairies and the Korea Racing Authority's Jongno branch are among the organizations currently taking part, each providing support suited to its paired neighborhood's character. Forms of assistance range widely: daily necessities for low-income households, meals for elderly residents, bedding and linens for vulnerable families, household goods for residents in precarious housing, and scholarships for youth.

Some companies go beyond one-time donations of cash or goods, consistently tracking seasonal and holiday-driven shifts in need and adjusting their support accordingly.

The outreach provides tangible help to residents who fall through the cracks of the formal welfare system, while also giving companies a platform to fulfill their responsibilities as members of the local community.

The district said it plans to continue leading a culture of giving through the program, ensuring that corporate goodwill and neighborhood welfare needs find each other.

Jongno-gu will also consistently guide and connect any companies, institutions or organizations that wish to join. Those interested may contact the Welfare Policy Division's welfare resources team or their local neighborhood community center.

"Love Sharing 1 Company, 1 Neighborhood is a project built together by the community centers that know their neighborhoods best and the companies that want to put giving into practice," district mayor Jung Mun-heon said. "We will strengthen the public-private cooperation framework so that more local resources reach neighbors in need."
