Ansan Mayor Lee Min-geun, who won re-election, shared a post on his social media Monday about a forum on care and education for youth with migrant backgrounds.
Lee said he visited the Immigrant Citizens' Solidarity organization in Seonbu-dong on Monday to hear firsthand opinions on the care and education of ethnic Korean compatriots from Central Asia and youth with migrant backgrounds.
"It is above all important to create an environment where children growing up in different cultures and circumstances can naturally integrate into the local community and schools, and grow up healthy alongside our children," he said.
He added that he would "listen carefully to the diverse voices of residents and work diligently to build an Ansan where everyone understands and respects one another."
