Korea Power Exchange has opened a new Central Headquarters in Osong, North Chungcheong Province, establishing a dual safety system to ensure stable national power grid operations.

The exchange held an opening ceremony for the Central Headquarters in Osong-eup, Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, on Monday.

The Central Headquarters will serve as a backup control center for the national power grid in the event of a disaster or emergency at the exchange's main office in Naju, South Jeolla Province.

The facility was built on a total floor area of 7,840 square meters across four above-ground floors in Bongsan-ri, Osong-eup, at a total project cost of approximately 37.7 billion won ($24.8 million).

"The Central Headquarters is a core piece of infrastructure for securing the stability and continuity of national power grid operations," President Kim Seong-jin said. "We will do our utmost to ensure stable grid operations and the expansion of renewable energy capacity through a dual control system linking the central and regional hubs."
