People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok convened an emergency supreme council meeting Monday afternoon to discuss filing an election appeal over the Seoul vote.
Jang told reporters the emergency session would be held at around 5:30 p.m. Monday.
The meeting centers on whether to file an appeal with the National Election Commission seeking a rerun of the Seoul election, where a ballot shortage occurred during the June 3 local elections.
"June 17 is the deadline for filing an election appeal, and an appeal must be filed before an election invalidity lawsuit can be brought," Jang said, adding that the matter would be discussed at the supreme council meeting. "We could challenge the entire Seoul election, or we could separate it and target only certain races," he said.
