3GW public-led offshore wind complex development underway
South Korea's largest offshore wind supply chain conference and exhibition will be held Monday and Tuesday at the Yeosu Expo Convention Center.
The two-day event is expected to serve as a platform for sharing the latest technology and supply chain developments in the offshore wind industry, while helping domestic companies expand their market presence and build cooperative networks.
Co-hosted by South Jeolla Province and the Korea Wind Energy Industry Association, the event is the country's largest offshore wind supply chain exhibition, with around 2,000 industry officials, companies and research institutions from home and abroad expected to attend.
A total of 73 offshore wind-related companies will operate 102 booths at the event, which will feature an opening ceremony, conferences, business consultations, specialized seminars and a networking dinner.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Kim Min-seok will chair a roundtable with offshore wind industry representatives, including developers and supply chain company executives, to discuss ways to strengthen the sector's competitiveness.
Yeosu was selected in 2024 for a Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy program supporting large-scale public-led offshore wind complex development. The city is now pursuing a 3GW public-led offshore wind project with a total budget of 8 billion won (approximately $5.26 million), with completion targeted for next year. Yeosu also plans to participate in the government's call for applications to designate preliminary offshore wind zones.
