Seoul Housing & Communities Corp. (SH) announced Monday that it has appointed Lee Cheol-gyu, currently head of the construction works office, as the new standing director of its construction project division.

Lee, born in 1968, joined SH in 1995 as architecture staff and built his career across design, construction and other project phases. He was selected through an open executive recruitment process based on his expertise in major projects for both SH and the Seoul Metropolitan Government. His term runs from Monday through June 14, 2029.

Lee graduated from Wonkwang University with a degree in architectural engineering before joining SH, where he went on to serve as head of the building construction department, construction project office, urban renewal project office and construction works office.

As Seoul's housing shortage deepens, public housing in the city — including "Mirinaezip," the second-generation long-term jeonse housing program — is taking on growing importance.

"Lee will lead innovation across a range of areas, including the swift delivery of housing through the seamless execution of key policy projects such as 'Mirinaezip,' as well as on-site quality control and safety management," an SH official said.
