Shinhwa member Kim Dong-wan has expressed regret over a series of social media posts that drew public criticism in recent weeks.

In a post on his Threads account Saturday, Kim said he had recently consulted with a marketer described as a top figure in the industry and came away with a striking piece of advice.

The marketer had asked him: "Have you ever thought about the families of the people who work with you?"

"When something falls apart because of my mistake, it doesn't end with me just getting scolded or criticized," Kim wrote. "I've only now come to realize that the people tied to that work — and their families — are also affected."

He went on to reflect on his past behavior. "I thought I was living responsibly, but looking back, I realize I acted irresponsibly quite a lot," he said.

Kim also pledged to change his approach to social media. "Since we're on the topic of algorithms, I'm going to try not to read or look at posts that could cause problems," he wrote, and went on to say, "Life is short enough just keeping up with good writing and enjoyable things — and above all, I need to carry the responsibilities I've taken on."

He closed the post by writing: "And honestly, that is the fate of an entertainer — make people happy."

Kim has drawn criticism several times recently over his social media activity. He came under fire for posts that appeared to advocate legalizing prostitution, and for writing a message of support for MC Dingdong, a broadcaster who sparked controversy after assaulting a female BJ during a live stream.
