Units 1 and 2 of special-purpose DEVELON pile driver shipped
HD Hyundai Construction Equipment said Friday it has launched a 40-ton DEVELON pile driver — a special-purpose machine — and delivered the first two units to customers.
A pile driver is equipment dedicated to piling work at construction sites. It drives piles deep into hard ground to lay the foundation that stably transfers and supports the load of a structure.
The company developed the 40-ton pile driver in line with growing demand at construction sites for high-performance, large-scale equipment. The product is built for the performance and durability required in repetitive, high-load operations.
The boom and arm — which serve as the excavator's reach — are designed 70 percent longer than the standard model, allowing the machine to handle long steel materials with stability. The pile driver also features a smart around-view monitor that uses dedicated software, an AI camera and radar to detect the machine's surroundings in real time.
HD Hyundai Construction Equipment is targeting the specialized work market by rolling out a range of special-purpose machines, including the pile driver. Last year, the company launched a multifunctional piling machine that integrates drilling, driving and extraction into a single unit. Its lineup also includes a high-reach demolition attachment capable of safely tearing down buildings up to 15 stories tall, as well as a material handler for grabbing and moving scrap metal and waste.
The company plans to expand its special-purpose equipment business to meet rising demand amid growing urbanization, redevelopment activity and large-scale infrastructure investment. According to market research firm MarketsizeandTrends and others, the global demolition and material-handling equipment market is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 5.8 percent from this year through 2033, reaching $1.99 billion (about 3 trillion won).
