The transition committee for the incoming 9th directly elected chief of Yeongdeok-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, officially launched Thursday, kicking off the formal handover process.

The committee set up its office at the Yeongdeok National Sports Center that day and held a commissioning ceremony for its 21 members — 15 working-level specialists and six advisory members drawn from various fields.

The committee will receive briefings from each Yeongdeok-gun department on key ongoing work through Sunday, then flesh out county chief-elect Jo Ju-hong's policy pledges and the administrative vision for the 9th term.

Transition committee chair Lee An-guk said the panel would "do everything in its power to minimize any gap in county administration by maintaining continuity in major existing projects, while ensuring the chief-elect's core campaign pledges take firm root as effective policies for Yeongdeok's development."

Jo said his administration would "carry forward without interruption any project or policy that benefits Yeongdeok's development and holds future value." He added that he would "create new growth engines for Yeongdeok — particularly by attracting a new nuclear power plant and actively drawing in investment companies."
