Nowon-gu Mayor Oh Seung-rok attended the "2026 First-Half Smart Nowon Fit 'Walk GO! Win GO!'" award ceremony Thursday afternoon at the small auditorium on the sixth floor of the Nowon-gu Office, congratulating residents and walking club members recognized for their outstanding commitment to daily walking.
Smart Nowon Fit is an integrated lifestyle sports mobile app operated by Nowon-gu that tracks step counts and provides information on community sports programs, athletic facilities and walking routes, helping residents build healthy daily habits. Since its launch in September last year, the app has surpassed 50,000 registered users.
The ceremony was organized to reward residents who met their step-count targets through the app and to encourage walking as part of everyday life. Through an on-site public lottery held that day, 138 high-step residents, two walking clubs and two video contest winners were selected, receiving a combined 15.2 million won (approximately $9,980) in Seoul Pay incentives. To ensure fairness and transparency, the entire event was livestreamed on Nowon-gu's senior YouTube channel, "Century Youth."
"Smart Nowon Fit is playing a major role in helping residents build healthy lifestyle habits and expand their participation in community sports," Mayor Oh said. "We will continue to provide diverse support so that more residents can enjoy walking and lead healthier lives."
