Actor Hwang Seung-eon shared a pointed Bible passage on social media after trading barbs with online users over a protest tied to the June 3 local elections.
Hwang had previously expressed support for a rally in the Jamsil area of Seoul that erupted after reports of ballot shortages during the June 3 local elections.
On Wednesday, she posted excerpts from Romans 2:1–16 without any accompanying comment.
She underlined several passages, including: "You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself"; "To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life"; and "But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger."
On Sunday, Hwang had shared a post about the ongoing rally near Olympic Park in Songpa-gu, Seoul. In the ensuing online exchange, one user brought up the emergency martial law declaration of Dec. 3, 2024, and the subsequent impeachment proceedings, asking what she had been doing at the time. She replied, "I went to sleep and woke up to find it had already been lifted."
