Open to youth living or active in airport noise-affected areas — career design and skills-building education offered
New 'Airport Employment Track' added, with Korea Airports Corp. HR staff providing tailored job strategies
Yangcheon-gu (district mayor Lee Gi-jae) is launching the "2026 Yangcheon Youth Academy" to help young residents in airport noise-affected areas — where employment and startup infrastructure is comparatively limited — design their career paths and build practical skills.
The Yangcheon Youth Academy is a youth-tailored education program that Yangcheon-gu and Korea Airports Corp. have jointly operated since 2025. It was designed to give young people in airport noise-affected areas access to quality education and to expand their participation in the local community.
Last year, the program ran 10 courses — covering topics such as the latest employment trends and portfolio writing — drawing 210 participants and earning a satisfaction score of 4.7 out of 5. Hands-on courses that let participants produce tangible results, including sessions on Notion, personal finance management and woodworking, proved particularly popular.
Drawing on last year's results and participant feedback, the district has redesigned this year's curriculum to be more effective. It will significantly expand AI education to reflect the rapidly shifting hiring environment and technology landscape, and will introduce a new "Airport Employment Track" featuring direct participation from Korea Airports Corp. HR staff, who will provide practical job strategies and information for youth interested in careers in that sector.
The academy is organized into four tracks — building a personal job roadmap, practical use of generative AI, tips for landing jobs at public enterprises, and airport employment strategies — with a total of 12 courses running three times per month.
Classes run every Thursday from June 11 through Sept. 17, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the multipurpose room on the third floor of the Yangcheon Health Healing Culture Center. Each track accepts 25 participants.
Applicants must be between 19 and 39 years old and either live or be active in Yangcheon-gu's airport noise-affected areas — Sinwol-dong and Sinjeong-dong. Veterans who completed mandatory military service may have the upper age limit extended by up to three years, depending on their length of service.
Interested youth can apply via Google Forms before each course begins. Because every three lectures within a track form a single integrated program, participants cannot enroll in individual lectures only.
"This year's Youth Academy has been carefully prepared with courses that strengthen employment competitiveness — reinforcing the highly rated lectures from last year and adding the new airport employment track," district mayor Lee said. "We hope many young people who want to leap toward a better future will take an interest and join us."
