Pohang has formally launched a redevelopment project in the Daejam-dong area of North Gyeongsang Province.

The city published the official designation notice Wednesday for the "Daejam Zone 1 Redevelopment Project Improvement Plan and Zone Designation and Topographic Map," covering a site in Nam-gu's Daejam-dong, beginning the urban renewal process.

The project site spans 32,849.9 square meters and will be developed as a residential complex, with a land-use plan drawn up under the existing Class 2 general residential zone designation.

The development will provide 556 units across eight apartment buildings, each rising 29 above-ground floors with four below-ground levels.

A small park and an underground parking lot will also be built on the southern end of the site.
