Yeungjin University in Daegu signed an international customized education agreement with Japanese industrial machinery company Canycom Co. and received a 30 million won ($19,400) scholarship donation, the university announced Monday.

The signing ceremony, held at the university's main building conference room, was attended by Canycom President and CEO Kaneyuki Yoshimitsu and Yeungjin University President Choi Jae-young, along with officials from both institutions.

Also drawing attention at the ceremony was Kim Seong-ho, a 43-year-old executive director at Canycom who graduated from the university's AI Convergence Mechanical Engineering program and joined the company in 2020.

Following the signing, Kim met with current students, sharing his experience preparing for employment in Japan and working there, and encouraged them to pursue opportunities on the global stage.

Canycom, founded in 1955, specializes in transport machinery for agriculture, construction and forestry. The company operates overseas offices in South Korea, the United States and China as it expands its global presence.

"This agreement will serve as an opportunity to further expand the global industry-academia cooperation network that Yeungjin has built over many years," President Choi said. "Based on customized education, we will develop practice-oriented talent that global companies need and grow into a hub university for nurturing global talent representing South Korea."
