South Korean mixed martial arts promotion TFC will hold its 22nd numbered event, TFC 22.
The event is scheduled for July 11 at Goodprime Sports Mall in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province. Founded in 2013, TFC will debut a dedicated arena for the occasion — the first time in 13 years the promotion has held a bout in a purpose-built venue.
TFC President Kim Yong-un introduced the dedicated arena, dubbed the TFC Dream Center, saying he wants to build a stage where fighters can pursue their dreams. "I want to provide more opportunities so they can achieve their goals," he said.
TFC boasts both a long history and a strong track record, having produced 16 UFC fighters. Thirteen of South Korea's UFC fighters are TFC alumni. Former UFC women's strawweight champion Zhang Weili of China also came up through TFC.
Given the promotion's pedigree, a marquee MMA star is expected to headline TFC 22's main event. On June 8, three undercard bouts and six fighters were announced.
Min Tae-young (Korean Top Team) and Bae Seong-guk (Gimhae Team Mad) will meet at bantamweight; Tursunboy (PFN/Kazakhstan) and Ko Jae-ung (Flame Gym) at lightweight; and Shuratjon (Naeil Boxing/Uzbekistan) and Kim Jae-young (Havas MMA) at welterweight.
Kim said the promotion is working to make the first event at the TFC Dream Center a memorable one and asked fans for their support. The remaining TFC 22 matchups, including the main event, will be announced at a later date.
