Net loss tops 1 trillion won for the year; auditor issues second consecutive disclaimer of opinion
Homeplus, which is undergoing court receivership proceedings, posted a net loss of more than 1 trillion won ($647 million) for the fiscal year.
According to filings on the Financial Supervisory Service's DART system, Homeplus recorded sales of 5.7963 trillion won ($3.74 billion) for fiscal year 2025 (March 2025–February 2026), a roughly 17 percent decline from the previous year. Its operating loss widened approximately 74 percent to 547.3 billion won ($353 million), while its net loss grew 48 percent to 1.001 trillion won ($646 million).
The results mark the fifth consecutive year of losses for Homeplus since fiscal year 2021 (March 2021–February 2022).
Total assets for the fiscal year stood at 7.304 trillion won ($4.72 billion), with total liabilities of 7.065 trillion won ($4.56 billion), leaving total equity at 239.1 billion won ($154 million). Current assets — those convertible to cash within one year — amounted to 408.2 billion won ($263 million), while current liabilities due within one year reached 4.2897 trillion won ($2.77 billion).
Total executive compensation, including salaries and severance payments, came to 5.4 billion won ($3.5 million) for the period from March last year through February this year.
Ernst & Young Han Young, the company's auditor, issued a disclaimer of opinion for the second consecutive year. The firm cited substantial operating and net losses, along with borrowings repayable within one year, saying the situation "raises significant doubt about the company's ability to continue as a going concern."
