Foreign visitors can ride tourist taxis and redeem shopping coupons at Olive Young inside Gangneung Station
Gangneung city in Gangwon Province is running a joint marketing campaign with beauty retailer Olive Young from Monday through June 14 to improve transportation access for foreign tourists and boost local spending.
The campaign pairs Gangneung's tourist taxi service with shopping perks from a globally recognized brand, aiming to raise the city's tourism profile and drive greater use of its foreign tourist taxi service.
Foreign tourists who use the tourist taxi service will receive Olive Young discount coupons offering 5,000 won off purchases of 50,000 won ($32) or more.
Riders can pick up the coupons at the tourism information center inside Gangneung Station and redeem them at the Olive Young store within the station.
The city expects the campaign to boost tourist satisfaction by linking transportation and shopping into a single, seamless experience.
Gangneung plans to build on the campaign by identifying tourism partnership projects that reflect the needs and preferences of foreign visitors. It also aims to expand cooperation with private companies to sharpen its competitiveness as a tourism destination.
"This joint marketing initiative is meaningful because it offers foreign tourists both convenience and enjoyment during their visit to Gangneung," said Eom Geum-mun, head of the city's tourism policy division. "We will continue to actively pursue tailored tourism services through diverse private-sector partnerships that visitors can truly feel."
