The parents of a middle school girl who sprayed a fire extinguisher inside a PC bang and fled have posted a public apology on an online community forum.
A post titled "We are the parents of the girl involved in the JTBC 'Crime Scene' report. We sincerely apologize" appeared Sunday on Bobaedream, an online community. The author, identified only as A, said they are the parent of one of the two middle school girls involved in the incident.
"I bow my head and sincerely apologize to the victims and their families, who suffered immeasurable pain and harm because of my child's wrongful actions, and to the PC bang owner, whose business was severely disrupted," A wrote.
A added: "I will make no excuses for what my child has done. I promise, as a parent, not to shirk responsibility and to do everything I can to compensate the victims and offer my apologies."
A also explained the sequence of events after some online users accused the perpetrator's family of acting irresponsibly following the broadcast. A said the family first learned of their child's actions Saturday, when police visited their home that afternoon, and that they immediately requested the victims' contact information — only to be told the case had been transferred to the women and youth crimes unit and could not be shared right away.
