Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, will host weekly reenactments of a Silla-era royal procession near Cheomseongdae through November, the city announced Sunday.

The event will run twice each weekend — at noon and 2 p.m.

Organized by the Silla Culture Content Development Institute, the historical experience program is sponsored by North Gyeongsang Province, Gyeongju City and Nam Gyeongju Saemaul Credit Union.

The reenactment depicts Queen Seondeok wearing a gold crown and riding a royal palanquin called "Boyeon" in a ceremonial procession.

After the procession, visitors can take photos with the queen against the backdrop of Cheomseongdae.

Additional hands-on activities include trying on Silla-era traditional costumes and making replica gold crowns.

"We will continue to develop differentiated cultural content that reflects the identity of Gyeongju as a millennium-old capital and strengthen the city's tourism competitiveness," Mayor Ju Nak-young said.
