Senior Superintendent Park Song-hee, 55, will take over as the 81st chief of Suncheon Police Station.
A native of Gwangyang, Park graduated from the Korean National Police University (10th class) and later earned a graduate degree in education from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. Her career has included postings as intelligence section chief at Bundang Police Station, juvenile and women's section chief at the South Jeolla Provincial Police Agency, juvenile and women's division chief at the North Jeolla Provincial Police Agency, autonomous police policy division chief at the South Jeolla Autonomous Police Committee, chief of Damyang Police Station, and juvenile and women's division chief at the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency.
Park is a veteran in investigation, school violence prevention, and youth and women's guidance, and has drawn media attention for her collaborative and pragmatic work style.
Her predecessor, Kim Dae-won, has moved to the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency as its civil complaints, audit and human rights officer.
