Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi, who has been mediating negotiations between the United States and Iran, is traveling to Iran.

Iran's Mehr News Agency reported Saturday that Naqvi was expected to arrive in the capital Tehran within hours.

Naqvi and Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni held two meetings on the sidelines of a Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) interior ministers' conference in Kyrgyzstan on Thursday and Friday, Mehr News Agency said.

The international community is watching closely to see whether the visit can serve as a turning point in the long-deadlocked US-Iran negotiations.

Naqvi has played a central role in brokering the US-Iran talks. He personally received key figures from both sides, including US Vice President J.D. Vance, during direct US-Iran negotiations held in Islamabad, Pakistan, in April.

Last month, he traveled to Iran to meet with Minister Momeni, then held a series of meetings with other key figures in the negotiations — including Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
