Daegu Mayor-elect Choo Kyung-ho announced the formation of his mayoral transition committee on Saturday, naming Kwak Dae-hoon, chairman of the Feb. 28 Memorial Foundation, to lead the body.

Kwak has served as director of Daegu's administrative management bureau, Dalseo-gu district chief, a National Assembly member and chairman of the Saemaul Undong Central Council.

Other committee members include Daegu City Council member Ha Jung-hwan, former senior Cheong Wa Dae administrative official Lee Jae-sung, former Daegu city policy adviser Park Jong-wook, former Ministry of Economy and Finance minister's policy adviser Han Dong-yeop and former National Assembly legislative aide Lee Eun-jeong.

Ha will also serve as the committee's spokesperson.

Choo's office said the transition committee for the ninth directly elected Daegu mayor would be the smallest in the city's history, designed to operate efficiently and productively with a focus on practical work, open communication and on-the-ground engagement.

The committee plans to hold meetings with experts, civic groups and business leaders across various sectors, as well as conduct field visits alongside the mayor-elect to gather input from all walks of life.

"I believe Chairman Kwak is the right person to lead the transition committee — overseeing a smooth handover of city administration and laying out a vision for the future," Choo said. "I intend to run the committee productively so that I can hit the ground running from the very first day I take office."
