Jin Kyo-hoon, the reelected mayor of Seoul's Gangseo-gu, returned to district duties Friday by meeting residents in the field.

Jin visited the Magok Senior Welfare Center, where he spent about an hour helping serve lunch to elderly residents. Wearing an apron, he personally ladled out grilled hairtail fish as part of the meal service.

He also checked on residents' concerns, greeting each person individually and asking whether the lunch was adequate and whether they had any difficulties using the center's facilities.

That afternoon, Jin continued his field-focused schedule by joining an invasive plant removal drive in Gonghang-dong. The event, running through June 20, drew roughly 150 volunteers, including Jin, members of the Gangseo-Yangcheon Environmental Movement Alliance, the Korea Environment Corporation's western regional headquarters, Seoul Energy Corp., Hyundai E&C and Hyundai Development Company.

"I will listen to residents' voices on the ground, communicate with them and deliver resident-centered administration from the closest possible position," Jin said. "I will always be a district mayor who stands by the people of Gangseo-gu."

Jin had returned to his office at the district hall Thursday morning. "I believe the support residents have shown reflects their desire to back the success of the Lee Jae Myung administration and their hope to see Gangseo leap forward and grow into something greater," he said. "I will always be with the people of Gangseo-gu and build a greater Gangseo together."

Jin won reelection in the June 3 local elections with 56.21 percent of the vote.
