Gyeongsan Dongui Korean Medicine Village, a flagship public-private tourism venture jointly operated by Daegu Haany University, the city of Gyeongsan and North Gyeongsang Province, has been reappointed as a provincial wellness tourism destination — earning the distinction without a mandatory on-site inspection after reviewers recognized its outstanding performance.

Daegu Haany University said Friday the village blends traditional Korean medicine culture with contemporary wellness content to offer an experiential tourism destination. Over the past five years, it has contributed to regional tourism growth and the development of the wellness industry through continuous content development and operational innovation.

In a reappointment review conducted by the North Gyeongsang Province Wellness Tourism Advisory Committee from April 15 to April 29, the village received high marks for its role in operating wellness programs tied to the 2025 Gyeongju APEC summit and for running more than 15 experiential programs backed by Daegu Haany University's specialized infrastructure.

Reviewers particularly praised the site's expertise in program delivery, diversity of offerings, customer satisfaction and community linkages — factors that allowed it to secure reappointment without a separate on-site inspection.

The reappointment entitles the village to a range of provincial support, including tourism product development and operational assistance, promotional marketing, online sales campaigns and participation in special wellness tourism events organized by North Gyeongsang Province.

"This reappointment is recognition of Gyeongsan Dongui Korean Medicine Village's content competitiveness and operational achievements," village director Choi Yong-gu said. "We will continue to grow as a leading tourism destination that contributes to the vitalization of Korean medicine wellness tourism and the development of the local economy."
