First group-level win, separate from past honors for US subsidiary

Hyundai Motor Group has been named "Automotive Company of the Year" at the AutoTech Awards 2026, a US automotive and mobility industry ceremony. The group announced Thursday that it received the honor at the event held Tuesday (local time) at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan.

The AutoTech Awards, organized by global ICT research firm Informa, recognize innovative technologies and companies in automotive and mobility fields including AI, connectivity, software, safety and the connected-car ecosystem. The judging panel cited four factors in selecting Hyundai Motor Group: winning the World Car of the Year award for three consecutive years, operating an innovative electric vehicle-dedicated platform, developing an 800-volt ultra-fast charging system, and earning Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+) designations along with multiple design awards. Hyundai Motor America (HMA) had previously won the "Automotive Manufacturer of the Year" category in 2021 and 2024, but this marks the first time the award has gone to Hyundai Motor Group at the group level. The win is also notable because the category was renamed this year from "Automotive Manufacturer of the Year" to "Automotive Company of the Year," making Hyundai Motor Group the inaugural recipient under the new title.

"We will continue to strengthen the performance, safety and design competitiveness of our electric vehicle platform, while accelerating our software-defined vehicle strategy," a Hyundai Motor Group official said.
