Bae Nak-ho, who won the Gimcheon mayoral race in Thursday's nationwide local elections, expressed gratitude to voters in his victory statement. "I bow my head in deep thanks for the wise choice and profound trust of the citizens who believed in and supported me," he said, pledging to be "a mayor who puts citizens first."

He added that he would lead city government "with humility, keeping the citizens' choice and expectations close to my heart," and promised to be "a mayor who puts citizens first, a mayor who turns promises into action, and a mayor who earns trust."

Bae also said he would "carry for the rest of my life, as the greatest honor, the precious sweat shed by campaign workers and supporters who walked every alley with me," and vowed to "repay that support with tangible results in city governance."

"The 10 campaign pledges I put forward during the election are promises made to citizens for the future of Gimcheon," he said. "I will now fulfill those promises responsibly so that residents can feel real change in their daily lives."
