Mirae Asset Securities is set to open subscriptions for SpaceX's initial public offering starting Friday, targeting individual and corporate qualified investors.
The brokerage plans to run the SpaceX IPO subscription over two business days, from Friday through Monday, according to Yonhap News Agency. The offering is open only to investors registered as professional investors, with the total amount to be raised expected to reach around $500 million.
Speculation had emerged that a public offering open to ordinary retail investors in South Korea might be possible, but that prospect appears to have fallen through. Under current law, a brokerage must file a securities registration statement with financial regulators and complete a formal subscription process before accepting applications from general investors.
SpaceX aims to raise $75 billion (about 115 trillion won) through the IPO — what would be the largest fundraising of its kind on record. Should the listing succeed, the company's valuation is expected to reach $1.75 trillion (about 2,700 trillion won).
