Online debate has erupted over the behavior Jang Won-young of girl group IVE displayed at an airport.

Jang departed for Shanghai, China, through Gimpo International Airport on May 30 to fulfill a scheduled engagement. During the departure, she underwent a passport check by airport staff, and footage capturing her from behind spread across social media.

An airport employee asked Jang to remove her mask and hat for identity verification. Throughout the check, she kept her arms crossed, briefly lifting her mask and hat before immediately lowering them again, then took her passport with one hand and quickly walked through the departure gate.

Fellow IVE member Gaeul, who went through the same procedure shortly after, removed her mask fully to show her face before putting it back on, accepted her passport with both hands and gave a slight bow.

The video spread rapidly across online communities and social media, drawing a wide range of reactions.

Some netizens said her manner "stands in contrast to the politeness of the other members," questioned whether "she was upset about something," and called her behavior "disrespectful." Others, however, argued there was "no need to read too much into it."
