Classical, fusion gugak and traditional arts performances set for June 8 at Cheongjin Park and June 26 at Naminsadang
Program runs through November, excluding July–August heat hiatus, bringing community-focused performances across Jongno
Jongno-gu (district mayor Jung Mun-heon) will bring its roving performance project "Anywhere Stage" to residents and tourists again in June, offering cultural arts performances in everyday spaces throughout the district.
"Anywhere Stage" transforms ordinary locations — markets, hanok, welfare facilities and walking paths — across Jongno into performance venues, making cultural arts accessible to anyone nearby. Since launching in April, the program has drawn an enthusiastic response from residents by expanding opportunities to enjoy culture within their daily surroundings.
The June lineup, which closes out the first half of the year, pairs a lunchtime wellness performance aimed at downtown office workers with a traditional arts showcase that draws on the character of the Insadong area.
The first performance takes place June 8 at 11:30 a.m. at Cheongjin Park, held in conjunction with the Jongno Garden Village Festival "2026 Garden Picnic Week in Jongno." It is designed as a midday respite for workers in the surrounding business district.
The lineup features Cheongchun Yusu (classical ensemble), Saelbit Ensemble (fusion gugak) and Choi Dal of band Mijii, presenting a stage that blends classical music, Korean traditional music and acoustic sounds.
Then on June 26 at 5 p.m., a traditional arts performance will be held at Naminsadang for residents and tourists visiting Insadong. Duresori (gugak choir) and Yeonda Ak (fusion gugak) will perform, offering a program that blends the elegance of tradition with a contemporary sensibility.
"Anywhere Stage" continues across Jongno through November. The program will pause during the July–August summer heat before resuming its second-half schedule in September. Performance dates and details are available on the Jongno Cultural Foundation website.
"We are continuing to offer a diverse range of performances so that everyone can enjoy cultural arts in the everyday spaces closest to them," Jung said. "We will keep enriching residents' daily lives with community-centered performances that span generations and locations."
