Yangcheon-gu District Mayor Lee Ki-jae receives congratulations on his re-election.

Yangcheon-gu District Mayor Lee Ki-jae secured re-election in the June 3 nationwide local elections, setting the stage for his continued leadership as the district's ninth directly elected mayor.

Lee arrived at the district office Thursday morning to applause and a warm welcome from staff, shaking hands with employees one by one before heading to his office to resume work. He immediately reviewed pressing district issues and the status of key ongoing projects, while also examining the priority policies he plans to advance during his new term.

Lee's core campaign pledges for his new term are: completing reconstruction and redevelopment projects; expanding transportation infrastructure; fostering vitality hubs in the Sinwol and Sinjeong areas; developing the Seobu Truck Terminal into a leading commercial district for southwestern Seoul; expanding support for residents affected by airport noise; creating a waterfront culture and leisure destination along Anyang Stream; building business infrastructure; developing Mokdong into a future city for the next 100 years; designating National Assembly Boulevard and Mokdong Rotary as special districts; and relocating the Sinjeong vehicle depot and integrating the site into a comprehensive development.

Yangcheon-gu expects its major flagship projects to gain momentum with renewed continuity. The district plans to accelerate urban renewal work across 66 reconstruction and redevelopment zones and focus administrative resources on expanding transportation infrastructure — including advancing the Mokdong Line and Gangbuk Crosstown Line, extending Subway Line 2's Sinjeong branch, and relocating the Sinjeong vehicle depot.

Alongside this, the district will press ahead with the Seobu Truck Terminal development and the creation of a Mokdong MICE complex to strengthen the foundation for future growth, while continuing projects aimed at improving residents' quality of life in education, welfare and culture.

"The aspirations and trust of residents who want Yangcheon to keep moving forward without interruption have given me the chance to run for Yangcheon again," Lee said. "I will carry in my heart the voices of residents I met on the ground during the campaign, and repay their trust by delivering on my campaign pledges one by one with tangible results."
