Coupang Logistics Service (CLS) announced Thursday it will launch a heat illness prevention campaign targeting contract delivery drivers arriving at major camps across the country, beginning at its Ilsan 1 Camp.

On May 29, CLS set up a health management booth at Ilsan 1 Camp, where medical staff from KMI Korean Medical Institute (KMI) ran a campaign that included consultations on heat illness prevention, a rolling prize event to encourage health checkup reservations, and the distribution of heat illness prevention kits. The KMI medical staff offered personalized advice on preventing heat illness based on each driver's health condition.

CLS signed an MOU with KMI — the first such agreement in the industry — and provides contract delivery drivers with free health checkups and tailored health management programs. Beyond checkups, the company also runs an eight-week dietary improvement program for drivers who need ongoing care, delivered through one-on-one consultations with medical professionals.

On that day, CLS Chief Safety Officer Kim Young-woong inspected the enclosed large-scale cooling zone system at Ilsan 1 Camp. CLS operates what it calls an "enclosed large-scale cooling zone" in the main work areas, fitted with cold-air containment curtains and ceiling-mounted system air conditioners. The zones are kept at or below 20 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the campaign was designed to bring medical staff directly to delivery sites to consult with contract drivers — who are not legally required to undergo health checkups and therefore tend to neglect their health — and to inform them of the fully subsidized checkups CLS provides.

"Driver participation is key to achieving real health benefits, so we will continue efforts to encourage that participation," a CLS official said.
