Progressive candidates for school superintendent led exit polls in both Seoul and Gyeonggi Province on Wednesday.

KBS, MBC and SBS released joint exit poll results at 6 p.m. Wednesday for the 9th nationwide local elections, projecting wins for Seoul superintendent candidate Jeong Geun-sik and Gyeonggi Province superintendent candidate Ahn Min-suk. Jeong, the incumbent Seoul superintendent, led with 39.0 percent in the exit poll, ahead of conservative candidate Jo Jeon-hyeok at 21.2 percent.

In the Gyeonggi Province superintendent race, Ahn led with 58.2 percent, outpacing incumbent Im Tae-hee at 41.8 percent — a margin of 16.4 percentage points.
