International standard validates software reliability for automotive components; company integrates self-developed diagnostic and control software
LG Display announced Monday it has obtained Level 2 (CL2) certification under ASPICE — Automotive SPICE — the global standard for automotive software development. The certification positions the company to pursue new orders by demonstrating capabilities in both automotive displays and software technology.
LG Display earned the certification by integrating self-developed diagnostic and control functions into displays for vehicle instrument clusters and center fascias, validating its software quality and reliability as a core partner in automotive electronics systems. ASPICE is an international standard created by automakers to assess the software development capabilities and reliability of automotive component manufacturers. It evaluates whether systematic processes are established and maintained across the entire software development lifecycle.
The certification follows LG Display's acquisition in December of the ISO/SAE 21434 international standard for automotive cybersecurity engineering — a first in the display industry. With ASPICE now secured as well, the company has strengthened its competitiveness in the vehicle display market with back-to-back automotive software credentials.
LG Display said it plans to leverage the certification to strengthen its ability to win new contracts with automakers in North America and other global markets.
