Closing on a promise: The 'Sok-Ji-Ma' campaign seals the deal!
• Accelerated Mokdong reconstruction led by Woo through a Seoul Metropolitan Government task force… Mokdong subway line extended straight to Yeouido
… A reassuring Yangcheon-gu, safe for every resident
Woo Hyung-chan, the Democratic Party of Korea candidate for Yangcheon-gu district mayor, wrapped up 13 days of campaigning by presenting three core pledges for the district's future — a platform he branded "Sok-Ji-Ma."
The slogan stands for three priorities: accelerated reconstruction of the Mokdong apartment complexes, an extension of the Mokdong subway line to Yeouido, and making Yangcheon-gu a safer place where residents can live without worry.
Just after midnight on June 2, with voting one day away, Woo visited Mokdong Station to greet residents catching the last trains home, kicking off the final day of his campaign.
He then toured the Sinjeong-dong and Mokdong areas, meeting residents and presenting himself as "a district mayor ready to accelerate change in Yangcheon-gu" as he appealed for their support.
Woo took direct aim at the "uninterrupted development of Yangcheon-gu" slogan used by his opponent, incumbent district mayor Lee Gi-jae of the People Power Party. "If you want uninterrupted development, the answer is clear — between an opposition-party district mayor and a ruling-party district mayor, which one can actually deliver it?" he asked. He added that residents needed to feel "real momentum and speed."
He also pledged to work as "one team" with President Lee Jae Myung and Seoul mayoral candidate Jeong Won-o to push forward long-standing projects for the district. "Mokdong reconstruction will gain speed through a Seoul Metropolitan Government task force that I will lead, and the Mokdong line will be fast-tracked with a direct connection all the way to Yeouido," he said.
Woo cited a string of recent safety incidents — including missing rebar at the GTX Samsung Station construction site and a collapse at the Seosomun overpass demolition site — and warned that "a city's dignity is only complete when it is safe." He vowed to build "a Yangcheon-gu where residents can go about their daily lives without fear."
Reflecting on the significance of the election, Woo said it was "a choice between seizing the chance for Yangcheon-gu to leap forward faster or staying at the current pace," and pledged to deliver on all three "Sok-Ji-Ma" promises without fail.
"The official campaign ends, but my commitment to faster development for Yangcheon-gu does not," he said, adding that he would continue online campaigning until midnight. "I will do my utmost until the very last moment to win over even one more heart."
