Complex community center completed in front of county office, with roller skating rink also moving in
A bowling alley has opened inside the complex community center in front of the Boseong-gun county office in South Jeolla Province, beginning operations Tuesday.
The Boseong Bowling Alley, located in Boseong-eup, was built and donated to the county by private investor Hyedam Co. The facility features 14 lanes — including a broadcast-ready lane — and a lounge on the seventh floor.
The bowling alley operates year-round, including holidays, until midnight. A roller skating rink on the fifth floor of the same building closes at 9 p.m. and is closed every Monday.
The Boseong Haengbokmaru — the county's complex community center — was built at a total cost of 41 billion won ($27.1 million). The building has two below-ground floors and seven above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 16,160 square meters.
Beyond the bowling alley and roller skating rink, the center offers residents a wide range of leisure amenities — a smart gymnasium, a small library, a shared childcare space, a family center, a communal kitchen, a Dream Start center, co-working offices, soundproof rooms, resident self-managed spaces and a permanent exhibition hall.
The complex also houses the Boseong Sori Performance Hall, dedicated to preserving "Seopyeonje Boseong Sori," a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, along with the county council chambers and parking for more than 220 vehicles, making it a hub for culture, administration and public services.
"We expect the bowling alley, roller rink, smart gymnasium and other evening and weekend attractions to bring significant change to residents' leisure lives," said Deputy County Chief Lee Sang-cheol, who is serving as acting county chief. "We will work with the private operator to explore ways to contribute to the local economy, including attracting competitions."
