Estimated credit and debit card spending at four major convenience store chains — GS25, CU, 7-Eleven and E-mart24 — totaled 12.56 trillion won ($8.27 billion) in the January–April period, data analytics firm Wise App & Retail said Monday.

The figure represents a 25.9 percent increase from the same period in 2022, when spending stood at 9.98 trillion won, and has grown consistently for four straight years.

Among the four chains, GS25 recorded the highest combined estimated card spending over the four-month period, followed by CU, 7-Eleven and E-mart24.

GS25 and CU also ranked first and second, respectively, among major commerce brands by average monthly transaction count. Coupang Inc, Naver and Naver Pay, and 7-Eleven followed.

The figures are estimates based on credit and debit card transaction records and may differ from each company's actual sales. Bank transfers, cash transactions and gift card payments were not included.
