Wear performance up 20%, fuel efficiency improved
Targets replacement tire markets in Asia-Pacific, Middle East
Nexen Tire announced Monday the launch of its premium tire, the Nfera Primus UX. The product went on sale in South Korea on Sunday before rolling out to Asia-Pacific and Middle East markets as the company steps up its push into the global replacement tire segment.
The Nfera Primus UX is a high-performance tire with wear performance improved 20 percent over its predecessor. Designed to deliver optimal performance across vehicle types — electric vehicles, internal combustion engine cars and SUVs alike — the tire is part of Nexen Tire's "One Tire" strategy. It also carries the company's proprietary "EV Route" certification mark, which guarantees consistent performance in both electric and combustion-engine vehicles.
Overall performance has been broadly upgraded to support that claim. Reinforced structural materials improve high-speed driving stability, while a wider contact patch further enhances handling. Optimized tread block design minimizes road noise.
Fuel efficiency has also improved. A new EMC compound that reduces energy loss extends tire life, and a sidewall design that minimizes air resistance boosts fuel economy in combustion-engine vehicles as well as driving range in electric vehicles.
Development of the tire drew on AI and virtual simulation technology Nexen Tire has built up over time. Working with British firm Ansible Motion, the company became the first in South Korea's tire industry to install a high dynamic driving simulator — a system combining high-performance hardware and software to evaluate vehicle dynamics and tire response in real time indoors.
"The Nfera Primus UX was designed to deliver optimal performance regardless of vehicle type, in step with the electric vehicle era," a Nexen Tire official said. "We will continue to strengthen our product lineup in global markets based on the One Tire strategy."
