Graduates receive a Level 2 walking instructor certificate certified by the Korea Walking Federation; education is free, with 55 spots available on a first-come, first-served basis
Seoul's Dobong-gu will launch a walking instructor training program beginning June 9.
The program runs June 9–19, with sessions held every Tuesday and Friday — four sessions in total — from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the grand hall on the seventh floor of the district public health center.
Participants who complete at least 13 of the 16 program hours will receive a Level 2 walking instructor certificate certified by the Korea Walking Federation.
Graduates will also be eligible to serve as leaders of walking clubs operated by the public health center. Those who lead club activities at least twice a month will receive a modest activity stipend.
The program is open to Dobong-gu residents born in 1961 or later. Applications must be submitted to the Health Policy Division of the Dobong-gu Public Health Center by June 5.
A total of 55 participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The program is entirely free of charge.
Dobong-gu has been training walking instructors since 2015 to promote proper walking techniques throughout the district. To date, 318 people have completed the program and are active as certified walking instructors.
