Global AUM reaches 421 trillion won, ranking 12th worldwide; TIGER and Global X both near $100 billion milestone; firm expands global ETF and ETF tokenization projects

Mirae Asset Global Investments said Sunday its global exchange-traded fund assets under management have surpassed 400 trillion won (approximately $266 billion).

The firm said total ETF AUM across 13 markets — including South Korea, the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe, Hong Kong and Japan — stood at 421 trillion won as of the end of May. According to ETFGI, that figure ranks the company 12th among global ETF managers by assets. The milestone comes just five months after global ETF AUM crossed the 300 trillion won mark at the end of 2025.

Two core pillars of the business are simultaneously approaching the $100 billion threshold. The domestic TIGER ETF brand recorded AUM of approximately 160 trillion won as of the end of May. Its U.S. subsidiary, Global X US, is on the verge of reaching $100 billion in AUM, with assets climbing to roughly $98.6 billion at the end of May — about 12 times the $8 billion it managed when Mirae Asset acquired the business in 2018.

TIGER ETF's flagship index products — including TIGER 200, TIGER U.S. S&P500 and TIGER U.S. Nasdaq100 — have consistently absorbed pension and long-term investment demand, while the brand has recently sharpened its edge in semiconductor and U.S. space-themed offerings. The TIGER Semiconductor TOP10 ETF ranked first among domestically listed thematic ETFs by AUM, and the TIGER SK Hynix Single-Stock Leverage ETF set a new record for individual net purchases on its listing day. Buoyed by anticipation of a SpaceX listing, the TIGER U.S. Space Tech ETF surpassed 2 trillion won in AUM to claim the top spot among space-themed ETFs, further expanding the firm's presence in the thematic ETF market.

Major overseas subsidiaries are also delivering steady growth in their respective markets, underpinning the firm's global competitiveness. In Hong Kong particularly, the Global X China Semiconductor ETF — which invests across the Chinese semiconductor value chain — and the Global X Asia Semiconductor ETF, which targets key Asian chipmakers including TSMC, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, have drawn attention amid the recent AI and semiconductor rally.

Mirae Asset Global Investments is also expanding its ETF tokenization project, which combines global ETFs with blockchain technology. The firm is broadening tokenization of flagship ETFs including COPX, URA and PAVE on the global tokenization platform Ondo Finance, and plans to pursue a token class listing of the Global X HSCEI Covered Call Active — Hong Kong's first covered-call ETF — in the third quarter.

Kim Young-hwan, president and head of global business at Mirae Asset Global Investments, said the two core platforms are together marking a new milestone for the firm's global ETF business. "With both TIGER ETF in Korea and Global X US in the United States simultaneously reaching the $100 billion scale, we are writing a new chapter in our global ETF business," he said. "We will continue to strengthen the competitiveness of our global ETF platform and contribute to the long-term asset formation of investors."
