Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is set to visit South Korea for the first time in seven months, and speculation is mounting that he could throw a ceremonial first pitch at a Korea Baseball Organization game during his stay.
Sources in the IT industry say Huang plans to travel to South Korea after completing his schedule at Computex 2026 and GTC Taipei 2026 — both held in Taiwan from Sunday through Wednesday.
Among the items under discussion for his Korea itinerary is a ceremonial first pitch at a domestic professional baseball game, a prospect that has generated considerable excitement.
The most likely venue is Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, where the Doosan Bears host the Kiwoom Heroes in a three-game weekend series from Thursday through Saturday. One of those games is being discussed as the potential setting for the pitch.
Huang is well known as an avid baseball fan.
In 2024, he threw a ceremonial first pitch at a Major League Baseball "Taiwan Heritage Day" game between the Oakland Athletics and the San Francisco Giants, and later did the same at a Wei Chuan Dragons game in the Chinese Professional Baseball League in Taiwan. That appearance sold out seats up to the fifth floor of the stadium, and he stayed afterward to take commemorative photos with fans.
Should Huang take the mound in Korea, attention will also focus on whether he dons his signature No. 93 jersey. He has worn the number — representing 1993, the year Nvidia was founded — at each of his previous ceremonial pitches, swapping out his trademark black leather jacket for the uniform. Observers say he would likely follow the same tradition for his first pitch on Korean soil.
Industry watchers say Huang's visit carries significance well beyond public relations.
He is expected to meet LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo to discuss expanding cooperation in physical AI, hold talks with Naver board Chairman Lee Hae-jin on Thursday, and visit Naver's headquarters on June 8.
If the meeting with Lee proceeds, the two sides are expected to discuss a broad range of collaboration areas including AI infrastructure, sovereign AI and physical AI. Naver has been strengthening its position in physical AI by leveraging its capabilities in AI, cloud and digital twin technologies, making the prospect of deeper ties with Nvidia a closely watched development.
A potential meeting with Doosan Group is also drawing attention.
Doosan Robotics is working with Nvidia to develop an agentic AI-based intelligent robot platform and industrial humanoid robots. Last year, Doosan Group Vice Chairman Park Ji-won visited Nvidia's headquarters in the United States. This past April, Madison Huang — Nvidia's global product marketing manager and Jensen Huang's daughter — visited Doosan Tower to discuss areas of cooperation.
Some observers suggest that Huang's visit to Jamsil Baseball Stadium could serve as a symbolic showcase of AI ecosystem partnerships in South Korea, going beyond a simple sporting event. For now, however, the Doosan Bears say they have not officially been informed of any plans for Huang to throw a ceremonial pitch.
